Florida Float Flyers
(FLFLFL)

Florida Float Flyers is a small club, dedicated to flying off water.  The County and our club rules do not allow land take-offs or landings.  The members are eager to show you the glories of float flying.  We enjoy an uncrowded frequency board, manicured grounds, two launching ramps, exclusive use of the site, free sodas and water and two picnics a year.   You can enjoy all this for a small initiation fee of $50.00 and $50 dues per year.  A very wide range of models can be put on floats and there are several seaplanes (flying boats) available as ARF or Kits.

Directions to Our Site
Head east on I-4 from Tampa.  After passing the Rooms to Go warehouse and Armwood High School on the right, you will see a sign indicating 3 miles to McIntosh Road, exit 14.  After passing the truck weigh station on the right, signs at 1 mile and ½ mile will alert you further.  Get off at exit 14 and turn right (south) on McIntosh Road.  Follow it 2.2 miles to MLK Boulevard.  Turn left (east) at MLK and go 1.5 miles to Dover Road.  Turn right (south) on Dover Road and go 2.5 miles.  On your right, you will see a sign that says "Hillsborough County Valrico Water Treatment Facility".  Turn right (west) on the little road just short (north) of the tracks.  If you cross those tracks, you have gone too far.  There is an opening in the fence on your right, about 50 yards from Dover Road.  Turn right into there, and you will see the Florida Float Flyers sign.   Follow the mowed path to the sheds.  Drive slowly here, as the ground is rough.  From areas other than Tampa: go to Tampa and follow the directions above.

Most Saturdays, if the weather is decent, there will be somebody flying from about 8:30 until 10:30 or 11:00 AM.  We quit early when it is really hot.
